Hello! I'm Juan Luis Flores, a software engineer based in Mexico. I started building for the web during internships at GE and CEMEX, worked on a full-stack team in Monterrey, spent almost five years at Amazon on payments, tax and marketplace launches, and then built advertiser tools at Pinterest.

Full Stack Engineer II @ Pinterest
Nov 2025 - Sep 2026 · Mexico
- Spearheaded the Ad Duplication project, building support for multiple ad types and launching an ad iteration workflow that took campaign setup from 10+ clicks to ~2.
- Streamlined bulk campaign creation by parallelizing operations, refining validation flows and updating the schema, reducing errors by 18k+ week over week.
- Led the migration of campaign and ad validation logic, cutting long-term maintenance and making creation and editing flows consistent.
- Stabilized SOX-critical and integration tests and fixed flaky failures, reducing time lost to false positives.
Software Development Engineer @ Amazon

- Developed tax automation workflows for Brazil (NF-e and CT-e invoice validation), recovering multimillion-dollar tax refunds and eliminating 300+ hours a week of manual compliance work.
- Led the design and implementation of the Free Shipping Threshold for Mexico, unifying configuration across 6 fulfillment channels for non-Prime customers.
- Launched Product Bundles in Mexico, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, enabling millions of multi-product offers on desktop and mobile.
- Architected the IEPS tax disaggregation system for Mexico customer invoices (20,000–40,000 a week) to comply with government regulations.
